It's literally crippling, and I've had to miss out on a bunch of fun because I'm too scared to go.
When it happens, I get really physically ill to the point where I will throw up. It's horrid, and I can't control it. I've tried literally almost every calming method, but it just feels like something's wrong. I know nothing is, but it's so frustrating because my brain continuously tells itself that something is wrong, and my body reacts horribly to it.
I want to know what kind of anxiety this is, and how to stop it. My mother has suggested Xanax or Klonopin, but I don't think we can afford those just yet.

Many people struggle with these types of fears, Mercuryfumes. Certainly one way to approach this may be medication. But typically I think the approach is generally one of progressively exposing the person to situations that are fear inducing. One goes just far enough to begin to feel the fear, then stops. Then the next time, one goes a just a little bit farther, etc. There are programs that treat this type of phobia. I would suggest looking on the internet for information regarding these. You could also ask your doctor or therapist if you have one, or both, of these. Another good resource may be California therapist: Kati Morton. She is on YouTube, Facebook, & Twitter, as well as other social internet sites.
