You didn't do anything wrong. I can't speak for everyone....but it's possible that those of us who suffer from this are trying to find answers to this question too, and simply don't have one. The closest I can get to slowing down my thoughts is to "talk it all out" so it's not stuck in my head, or to distract my thoughts with something else....maybe busy myself doing things I CAN do something about & sometimes (not always) that helps me not worry about things I have no control over. Sorry I can't be more helpful, I'm exhausted from racing against my mind too.
