Narcissists have huge egos, but they are fragile egos. Personally, I am very quick to take offense when someone says something that I perceive is threatening my superiority in some way. I cannot tolerate criticism. If someone criticizes me at all they are risking me flying into a rage at worst, and at best I cut down whoever it is to size verbally so they'll be sorry they had the audacity to insult me.
