About a year ago I had a small stroke while inpatient (likely due to the medication), but the doctor refused to follow up on it because I was on the psych unit, and therefore it must have been something I made up (his words). I didn't push the issue at the time because I wanted the hell out of there.
Back in February of this year, I started getting vertigo. I still don't know why, or what caused it. At about the same time, I started experiencing this confusion during times of stress. I also had trouble processing visual information. When I went to the er for the vertigo (it had gotten really bad), they did an mri and found nothing. Pary of me wants to go back and get myself reevaluated, but I don't see it as something needing a trip to the er at this time. Insurance won't cover regular doctors visit, so that's kinda out at the moment...
I am really hoping it's just a stress reaction to the increased depression and flashbacks. :/

Not too long ago I helped someone who lived in florida but was visiting here in NY that needed medical/mental help. I discovered she thought her insurance wouldnt cover a regular doctor, turns out florida medical insurance plans do cover many types of doctors and many types of treatment plans. for this person we got her set up for both medicaid and medicare. that way all her medical and mental needs were covered, what medicaid didnt cover, medicare did.
here is a link to how to get signed up for the right insurance plans that fit your needs that we used to help this person.

one thing you may not know is that here in the USA there are now federal (nationwide laws) that americans have to have insurance cooverage, and nation wide law that says what medicaid must now cover here in the USA. that law is called obama care. So now anyone on medicaid gets a medical doctor, dentist and mental health coverage that include basic health care for preventing problems/diseases (here in NY these are called well checks because the person gets to see the doctor even when they are not sick for check ups on their physical and mental health and medications they may be on) and they also get treatment for their physical and mental health problems/sickness/... there are many different packages of health care americans can choose from based on what their health needs are.
with medicaid what usually happens is you choose a doctor, dentist and mental health treatment provider or state medicaid office office assigns you to which ever treatment providers on their list have availability of taking on new clients. some state medicaid offices monitor how many clients each treatment provider has so that they are able to assign clients to a treatment provider right away. then you just call that medical treatment provider you have chosen or were assigned to which is called your primary care physician (PCP) and schedule an appointment. then that treatment provider assesses the problem treats it or refers you to a specialist that can diagnose, treat the problem.
if you don't have the type of medical /mental health coverage you need all you need to do is contact your social services office and ask to speak to your caseworker. then sit down with them and discuss the problem and what you need. then they will help you to find the right treatment provider that fits your insurance plan or help you to change your insurance plans or add more benefits/insurance plans so that you will have the coverage you need.
