The only two sterotypes of US citizens I can think of are
1) everyone is fat. Nope, most of my life I was underweight. Now I'm within the healthy range.
2) the "ugly" American who thinks everything should be done the way it is in the US. Nope again. I've done some traveling out of the country. What's the point i going somewhere else if you expect it to be the same as "at home?" I do NOT believe everything should be done the way it is here.
others pointed out that the US covers so many different areas and types of people. If we go by the sterotype of Floridians
1) I'm not a gun toting nut who believes in standing my ground.
2) I do not live in the Evergaldes surrounded by gators.
3) I do not visit the theme parks on a regular basis. Never been to most and can't remember the last time I went to one it's been so long.
4) I do not spend my days at the beach. I'm a working stiff. I get up and go to work every day.
5) Unlike most, I love the heat here. I am afterall a lizard!
6) There is no one "Florida accent". I can think of numerous different ones. For the most part I don't have any accent, but I can sound like pure Southern redneck when pissed off!
7) As of my last birthday I guess I now fit in the old fart sterotype in that I'm 60, but I've lived here since I was in my teens. I do NOT fit the sterotype of driving 20 miles below the limit, in the lefthand lane. If anything, I'm likely to be blowing them off the road! And, unlike the transplants who live here, I don't give a rat's backside how they did it "back home." If it was so danged great where you came from, go back!!!!
8) Like someone else mentioned, I hate the tourists, but understand we need them (and their money.)
9) I am most definitely NOT a conservative Rebuplican!
totally aside from the state I live in I live in the country. I guess I do fit many of those sterotypes.
-I drive a pick-up. It's hard to load a half ton of hay in the trunk of a car.
-Left to my own choice I would wear jeans, t-shirts, boots and a baseball cap.
- I listen to country music. Of course I also listen to classical, head banging rock and roll and tradtional Irish music!
- I don't own a gun. I'm not opposed to gun ownership by responsible others. They just aren't for me.
