I think, if it were me, I'd be a little concerned about that. In 6 months, it'll be Christmas time, Ts may be out on vacation, it might be a rough time for you (it is for me), it might be hard to jump in with someone new. If it were me, and I had a little extra money, I'd be inclined to use the time/money to start doing "interviews" with new Ts on the side... you know, one off meetings here and there, being totally upfront about when you're looking to start. That way you can use the safety and security of your current T-relationship as a place to come back to, but still branch out and explore... and you can hopefully find someone awesome you click with, to help make the switch a little more smooth and less scary when it happens.

But, that's just me... Other than that, I think if art therapy strikes your fancy, why the heck not give it a try?
Of the therapists covered by my insurance, I havent found any I want to see. The only ones I'm interested in would be cash pay. But even they dont want to see me as long as I'm seeing current T. Theyre very territorial. But as for HAVING to change- insurance granted me the 6 months at stage 1 of my appeal/grievance, so I'm pretty sure I can pry more sessions out of them next year when these run out, by escalating the appeal.

Even if they don't, if things work out with T and I end up staying, it would only be about $3,000 (a little less) to get me to June when she can opt back in to medicare and insurance will take over payments again. So I'd be responsible for payments for only 5 months.

But all that is a big if...we have to survive the next few weeks/months first.
