Can totally relate to the antidepressants setting you into a manic or hypomanic state. The exact thing happened to me, not long after I started an SSRI I flew into a mania that was undiagnosed and lasted 2 months.

I'm coming down off that SSRI and been introduced to Quetiapine (Seroquel) which has been helping smooth the peaks off my mood swings.
