Were the animals he killed like people's pets? If not I think killing bugs is normal to some extent, but killing animals for fun can mean a lot of things. It is a big indicator of sociopathy actually, but that does not mean this person is dangerous or would hurt you. Remember that you don't know how this person thinks so it could actually mean nothing. Try not to jump to conclusions or freak yourself out that he would hurt you, there is a big difference between being able to kill bugs/animals and a human being. Personally, I kill bugs all the time and did it once to watch it die, I wouldn't kill an animal unless I was hunting, but this does not make me dangerous because I wouldn't kill another person unless I had to because they threatened me.
