I don't really think there's a gender bias between NPD and HPD though there could be. The clinical presentation of the disorder I think is totally different than NPD. If you're not trained to distinguish these characteristics they probably can blend. i've been called every disorder in the book and I get malignant narc - worse than the actual narcs because some of my taboo ideas a lot

I don't think there's a gender bias in diagnosing anything. There's a reason why there's different disorders. Some disorders just happen to naturally be higher in one gender than the other. I've spoken with a few diagnosed male histrionics. They exist

I've also heard females are usually diagnosed with borderline over antisocial. Well there's me. At one point I was being considered for full blown AsPD

I had self harm cuts from trying it and that usually gets you automatically diagnosed with borderline apparently from a piece someone sent me and I don't have that in my dx. It's never even been in my differential

Maybe the next person to see me (because there will probably be a next time) will diagnose me with borderline because histrionic doesn't exist anymore. But I have as much of my records as places are willing to give me and in them it said something about me claiming to not feel emotions and intensely as I display them. My display of emotions can be very dramatic but I don't feel them. The last thing I want is a borderline + antisocial diagnosis. That's a bad one to have

So if a histrionic belongs anywhere I guess it's in borderline or narcissist but personally I have more problems that a narcissist would have. relationship problems a narcissist would have because I get bored, I'm not loyal and stuff like that

Sorry for all the personal blabber I know no one likes to read that but I do have a taste for being admired for my brain *puts nerdy glasses on*
Just kidding - I like educating the curious I guess because our only other histrionic is in the dark

Teacake you shouldn't let anyone on these forums diagnose you with anything but all I'm saying is that you should use this forum to your healing.
