I'm guessing this is the first experience with Unemployment services because you're reacting exactly like I did when I had to go thru it last year. I also got a call from someone requesting more info--and I freaked out when I called back and got a machine--but they did call back eventually and asked some inane question like 'are you still unemployed'? and I said yes, and that was it.
My concern had to do with one of the flags on the website that automatically is triggered when you fill in the amount of money you were paid per week. It said I was contesting the amount I was calculated to receive in unemployment, when I wasn't at all. The guy explained this is automatic and unless I really was contesting it, to ignore it which I did. I began receiving funds about 2 weeks after I was supposed to (back funds too) so it worked out.
I would suggest trying to calm down..I know, easier said than done, and of course we're in two different states, but I think for the most part, this branch of gov bureaucracy is probably pretty much the same. If it goes more than a week past the time you should be receiving funds, then call again.
Not sure if your phone system works the same, but when the voice mail starts, and requests your social, just wait it out. I know it's hard to do, but don't press any buttons at all and you will be sent to a human...just make sure you're calling at LEAST 3 hours before they 'close'.
