I try to "list" what is upsetting me and work on them somewhat the next day. Just acknowledging I'm frightened or depressed about something (getting older, my husband dying, finances, etc.) helps me and if I "work" on it a bit the next day, come up with ideas or a plan to help prepare for whatever I might be worried about or how to combat what depresses me, that helps too.
