Thanks for all of your replies. It sounds like a given to me that people who live in the sunbelt areas (like southern US) tend to not like summer, while people in the north prefer summer. I think that it's not that hard to understand.
In the sunbelt areas, winters tend to be ideal. The days are cool or warm, but not cold with snow. But summers can be hot and noisy. In the northern areas, summers would be pleasant. But the winters can be brutal.
I read somewhere that in places like India, people there have SAD during the summer months. So I guess that explains it.
