There are many reasons your dr's might disagree... one might think you are dissociative, or borderline, or have complex ptsd rather than full blown DID.
The particular diagnosis is not as important as, if you know you have been a victim of trauma, having a therapist who knows how to create containment and stabilization with trauma victims. (Having an above average knowledge of dissociative defenses would be a part of such expertise.)
