ADD is the other of the 2 DXes I have. To prevent any forms of hypomania and/or mania, my pdoc finds it safe to use Concerta vs other ADD meds. though it is a stimulant, like ritilin, it is time released which prevents any sudden shifts from up and then dropping down, which often occurs with almost all stimulants used for ADD.
Having both disorders can be tricky with medication combos, pdoc's have to be very conservative as well as observent with their patients. I count myself fortunate cause my pdoc has been right on target while at the same time, over the 5-6 yrs I haven't had any bad side effects.
