One time, my nightmare of a sister sped out of our driveway yelling that she was going to kill herself after my dad called the police because she was breaking things in the house. The cops found her at a friend's house, and she told them she never threatened to kill herself. They told her numerous people had heard it, so her choices were either to go to the hospital or wait while they had her sisters drive up and testify that she was threatening to kill herself.
She went to the hospital, told the doctor "I never said that. Dunno why they're all lying about me," and the doctor released her. I had audio proof of her running around the house yelling "I'm going to f----ing kill myself. I swear, I will drive your car into the lake," and they still let her go because she said "Nuh uh, they're liars."
I wish society would quit pretending it cares so much about the well-being of suicidal people. There's all this hoopla about how there's so much help out there for you, but when someone actually presents with a need for help, the doctors are like, "Meh.We don't have time to deal with this." Or, when they do take a case seriously, they go overboard and treat the person like a terrorist rather than a human being who needs understanding. I'm super over hearing the stories.
