Hi iditp20, sorry you are having a hard time right now.

Unfortunately I have to say that yes they can fire someone even if they have a genuine illness if they can demonstrate that their absences are affecting the business.

Sometimes they may have access to Occupational Health Services who can support you back into the workplace in a more gradual way. I am not sure of the size of the company you work for, but larger ones will probably have access to Occupational Health Services.

Has your GP reviewed your treatment? Are there any things at work that make your symptoms worse? Can you talk to your line manager about starting back more gradually, for example half days initially?

The NHS have community services that you can refer yourself to that offer things like CBT and anger management - have you tried them?
