I once talked to Social Security about this. They said that if I ever were to become overwhelmed by my illnesses again that I would not have to re-apply. I would automatically start again (2 months behind, of course) with the SSI.

It isn't SSDI, of course. Maybe there are some additional keys? I would recommend speaking with someone about your case, and ask the key Q's that are concerning. Best wishes to you!
