My partner who is diagnosed Bipolar was doing very well with Abilify and Cymbalta (taking trazedone at night). Because of the cost of Abilify (I won't rant about this, but it's ridiculous), his doctor switched him to Zoloft as a possible substitute. This substitution doesn't make a lot of sense to me since Abilify is an antipsychtic and zoloft is an antidepressant.

He has been on Zoloft for about 2 weeks and he has been experiencing several fast bipolar cycles since. He doesn't feel that the zoloft works as well as the Abilify.

I wondered if anyone here has experienced this substitution? and I'm wondering how long the zoloft takes to see positive effects?
