One of my preferred methods of self harm is hitting parts of my body to cause significant pain and bruising. While in a crisis about a month ago, I went nuts and did probably more damage than ever before. Everything seemed fine, the bruises were disappearing, but then I noticed that I had sharp pain in my wrist when I rotated it a certain way. This pain hasn't gone away since the incident (about a month ago) and yesterday I unintentionally did something that has made it worse. There's usually no pain if I don't rotate my wrist, and it's on my non-dominant hand so there's very little loss of function. Should I get it checked out? Do you think the problem will heal by itself eventually? Do you think there would actually be anything the doctor could do to help?
I'm not sure if this is a normal question or not. The problem is, I can't trust my judgment on things like this because 1) I don't like going to the doctor so I always think that I'm underestimating the problem in order to avoid going and 2) I have BPD and so I'm always worried that I'm overestimating the problem. And thus I have no idea where I stand.
