Hi,

This post is part experience part precaution and I would like feedback from anyone who has had similar experiences. I am probably not alone in the job department. I was point blank asked what my disability was in an interview Pretty sure that is a Human Resource manager's worst nightmare. When I was on short term disability for mania it was so ******* awkward how my boss and co workers did everything possible to find out what was wrong. They couldn't by law ask me but I heard non stop harassing comments about their concern and need to help I overheard phone calls speculating about me to the corporate headquarters because ya know if I'm not bleeding it can't be serious.

A friend from back when I had a corporate job knew I wasn't doing well and I'm bipolar. I had just gotten sober, my husband was drinking and I was staying at my parents house. She had the ****** audacity to check the public records from 2002 on my historic home, in a location where prices are skyrocketing, and tell me she'd buy.

I have posted before about my sadistic pdoc. He refused my concerns about hormone levels inpatient, and now he has conveniently forgotten to mark a X in the box and sign to verify my disability status, which keeps my student loan in deferral, THREE times. So, my second point is PHOTOCOPY everything! Especially if you're on disability. I have all of my pdoc's medical notes which mention nothing about menopause, and all of MD's notes which disagree. I also have all three copies of the partially blank paperwork he keeps mailing to my student loan Co. and their ticked off replies. Save everything!! You never know when you may need something to back up information.

Sometime in the next 6 months I'm planning on divorcing my husband. He is very volatile and will probably get a lawyer to state I'm mentally unstable. I have the name, phone number, and address of every therapist I have seen since I was married and they all know he was abusive.

It is a very sad fact that people are out there who are so evil. I think it is a good plan of action to get to know people and their intentions well before divulging personal information. I know the elderly are targeted at a mass level. I think it is also good to never, ever let on any financial information. That is nobody's business and asking is a big, red flag.
