I'm trying to figure out if my prolonged menstruation problem is related to my Vyvanse, and if anyone else has experienced this problem too:
I was diagnosed with adult inattentive ADHD just a couple months ago. The prescription has been a miracle, though I'm still trying to remove myself from built up bad habits of the past. Anyway... around the time I started my Vyvanse, I started my period, and it lasted for a little over a month straight, which has never happened, though I have had weird/irregular cycles on my bc. My doctor said the Vyvanse could affect the way the bc was being metabolized in my system, but I have found no evidence of this in my research so far. (in reality she can't tell me exactly what's going on, and I'm getting a little anxious/irritated/worried). She tried regulating my cycle with supplemental estrogen, but now a month later I've had my period for 2 weeks, and who knows if/when its going to stop. Its becoming so frustrating and discouraging! There don't seem to be enough studies relating Vyvanse and hormones to begin with, and now I'm afraid if I switch birth control, I will be on a wild goose chase trying to find one I like, that will have a balanced level of hormones to stop this problem, or I'll have to try and switch from my Vyvanse, which I'd rather not do for similar reasons. I just can't handle the prolonged PMS symptoms, especially combined with the Vyvanse "comedown" on such a regular basis.
