I am devastated over Robin's death. As I mentioned in another thread I had the joy of meeting him many years ago, and also was fortunate to have seen him host the tremendous event that was a memorial service for Bill Graham just after Graham's helicopter went down. Robin hosted that event (in Golden Gate Park, 1992, tens of thousands of people in attendance) with profound humanity. No one could ever be like him in the way he combined passion, empathy, love, comedy...in a way that was entirely sincere. I grew up with Robin as an inspiring role model. I loved the man. My heart aches because I know he battled his mental health issues, and I know how terribly painful that is.
I don't think there's anything wrong with sobbing about Robin's death, especially because it was by suicide. I feel like when Robin Williams left this earth he took a great deal of hope with him. I only hope that somehow he is at peace now, and who knows what his next gig will be...
