if a psychiatrist judges that you are a danger to yourself or others (at some point in time) you are regarded to be

MENTALLY DEFECTIVE

and you are barred from buying a gun

FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE

don't get me wrong i don't think that people should be allowed to buy guns.
