So you want to write? I'd go for it. Don't decide to teach unless you really want to teach. Gaiman made his way by writing for newspapers. Writing is a crucial skill in almost every profession, and not many people can actually write well. So I definitely think you can make money at it as long as you're willing to work... while writing your first novel on the side Good Luck!
