I was misdiagnosed for 12 yrs as being depressed. I was a teenager when it all started. I was seeing a therapist and pdoc in the same office. After several months my therapist said to me one day "I think your bipolar." He then talked to my pdoc and I started titrating on lamictal and at 50 mg it was night and day for me. I look back and I'm so angry that I was misdiagnosed because they put me on SSRIs that triggered mania for me. I was a ticking time bomb everyday and hurt the ones I loved.
