BPD has such negative historical associations, mainly based on ignorance and misunderstanding, that I think it's one label that should be re named or abandoned. Health professionals don't label people 'hysterical' anymore or 'insane' so why keep this one I wonder?.
I prefer the ICD10 term 'emotionally unstable personality disorder'. And recently I've been reading about cyclothymia, a type of Bi Polar, and wondering if that closer matches my symptoms. There's no stigma attached to it, mainly because most people (including me until recently) have never heard of it.
Labels are helpful sometimes in getting the right help but need changing if they become part of the problem or become stigmatizing.
