At work today they had cleaned the fryers and put in all fresh new oil. If any of you have gotten to see what it looks like afterwards, it is beautiful. So clear and fresh. It smells good and you can see all the way to the bottom of the fryer.
Anyway, I was fixated today on keeping them that spotless, which was hard to do........and then I started thinking about putting my hand in there to see it.
Okay, I know that is not a good thing at 350 degrees, but the overwhelming urge to do so was tremendous. I got the scooper to get out the nasty stuff and pretended it was my hand swishing the oil around.......it was bad.
I deliberately let stuff splash onto my hands today so it burned a little - just to feel it. I ended up getting someone else to take care of this area because the temptation was worsening.
A few days ago I was staring at the oil and one of the employees asked me why (I had just dropped some fries in there) - I said, "have you ever thought about that fry being your skin and just watching it burn and go under like that?" I spoke without thinking - she backed away from me real fast.
I think my fingernails are slipping.
Courage is fear that has said its prayers.
