It took me over 2.5 months after I started taking my medication to even be able to drive by myself, so I sympathize. I remember looking at papers and realizing that I couldn't think as fast as I used to and instantly felt dumb.
I have that feeling to- where you're completely detached from your memories. Unfortunately, the longer you go without medication- the more damage it does long-term. Looking back, I think the illness developed when I was about 19/20- and I didn't get treated for it until I was 30.
I agree with Bipolar nurse- there are still a lot of things you can do- and things that you might not be able to do (for me it was driving) can actually be temporary.
