I'm like that too--I second guess my actions because at the end of the day, I don't want anyone to not like me. But based on what you've told us, you seem to have dealt with it the proper way. You have no control over financial matters, so the manager is the right person to handle it. I know how uncomfortable you must feel though. I too have been in a situation where a colleague has turned against me. Hoping for the best for you and that things smooth over quickly.
