NPD is a scary diagnosis. The stigma of BPD can be bad but most people haven't heard of it where as every man and his dog "knows narcissism is bad."
Now I don't because I feel that if I were to change it people would just think I was trying too hard to fit in. (I'm also still fairly certain it's wrong? I dunno. Am having a totally borderline crisis of identity right now lol Still definitely think pdoc is an a*hat though.)
Incidentally that is an opinion I hold of some people I have seen here.

I agree. When I first heard of NPD, I thought to myself... "this T is calling me an A-hole".
But, it does sound like
the MH community is coming around and admitting there is more to people with NPD traits then just problem causing A-holes that everyone should stay away from. The way I see it, we've developed a defense mechanism that works.... it has got us this far, so, it's hard to let go.
I find that what helps me is to actually deal with and talk/write about the trauma that caused me to develop these traits.
