Also the insight that comes from knowing the habit loop is how you can not just start a habit, but change a negative one...

Identify the routine that you want to change. Then identify the cues and the reward. What you want to do is when the cues happen, do a different routine that yields the same type of reward.

This idea has been used for all kinds of habits including getting people to stop biting their nails.
