The peach colored light may very have been an "afterimage" or retinal fatigue, which happens when we stare at a bright image ( such as a computer screen ) and then away into a dim background.

The "jumpy bed" could very well be a minor earth tremor. You're in Texas? You get several of them every day. Most aren't noticeable.

These are just guesses, so who is to say for sure? However, I am reminded of an old saying: "When you hear the thunder of approaching hooves, don't expect to see zebras."

In other words, go with the simplest, most logical explanation unless proven otherwise.
