I'm with KimmyDawn on this: Let it go. You don't need anymore scruffing with this folks. You did the good deed in saving the dogs; this is irritating but I agree that they are just baiting you. If they are under a restraining order, keep a written record of the incident with information about the witnesses from neighborhood who know about the problem, just in case these neighbors ramp up their irritations.
