Hi, Hellion, you probably need a medical exam by your primary or at an urgent care clinic. The docs can decide if you need an x-ray or MRI. You want to rule out cracks or chips in the vertebra. They can sometimes tell just by moving your neck around.
If the bones are all right, time is probably your biggest ally. Soft tissue injury -- muscle, tendon, ligaments -- can hurt really bad for quite a while.
If the medicos give the okay, then alternative treatments as suggested by CANDC can work wonders. I've found massage therapy especially helpful.
I cracked two vertebra in a fall and they took six weeks to heal. The docs gave me instructions on what to do and not do to allow them to heal faster. The soft tissue damage hurt a lot more than the bone cracks.
That's probably the kind of info you need -- what to do and not do. I hope you heal up quickly.
