I think it's really up to the individual treatment team. You'd probably want to have a certain amount of stable time before considering going off meds. I wEnt off Seroquel when I got stable last winter because I can't take the side effects but I did it without a doxtor's consent. I did well for about four months. Now I feel I might need an ap long term, as much as it pains me to admit it. If you're concerned I would talk to your pdoc about it.
