Personally IMHO I think it's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. It's blackmail plain and simple. Most people I know that have "nominated" people chose people they didn't even like. Because it's for charity how can they say no without being the bad guy? And the person who nominated them gets to torture someone in the name of a good cause. Isn't that just the greatest idea you've ever heard of?
Something like this has no purpose in a business setting. I'd simply ask what being humiliated on social media has to do with your job and IF it was a prerequisite they should have told you before you were hired.
You're nicer than I am. This is something I would go to HR over. I don't come to work to be berated and hounded into doing crap that has nothing to do with my job.
