That does sound like an anxiety disorder, perhaps GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) or OCD. I would recommend seeing a doctor about it, as medication can be very helpful for these. But I would also consider seeing a therapist as well. Medication helps, but it can't do everything.
I totally get your anxiety about talking to a doctor about meds, but I think if you can do it, you'll find it was worth it.
