I've had lots of experience with Percoset, multiple knee surgeries. I felt the same way and wanted to cut back on my own as well. This may be not helpful since I guess it is cross addiction, but I took a little more of my sedative medication for anxiety to taper off without feeling any effects of stopping the opiate.

Once I had another knee flare up and got both Mobic (a strong NSAID) and Percoset and again tried to stay away from the Percocet. I found that the Mobic was actually more effective anyway and I didn't have to keep taking it. A few days, it reduced the swelling that was causing pain, and I was better.
