I just posted some of my favourite bpd related books in my last post. Hadn't seen this one yet, have a look.
I would say reading the DBT books and having your own journal and setting yourself tasks and challenges from the book is a good way to start, i found this really useful before I started therapy.
It's kind of hard to recognise your own symptoms and apply the practices at first but keep going. It will take a lot of self exploration and determination to do it yourself because we (as people not borderlines) will have a lot of self biases and can deny our faults when they are faced with change but if you keep going you can get past that.
