Personally, I had eastern ribbons and an albino Burmese python, but I also used to have facilities to take care of ailing snakes for the zoo to keep them quarantined when they weren't doing well and to nurse them back to health. They are a lot of work even when there aren't any issues. I get more concerned when people take them on as "cool" pet not realizing the space they actually need, and all their other needs, plus to keep them and others safe. It is great you are doing education demos with them. I can definitely sympathize with the work though and they can be a rewarding as they are such magnificent, prehistoric critters.
Besides, who doesn't want miss out on snuggling with a snake, really?
