Hi this week I have found myself in somewhat of a Nightmare situation. 4 years ago I starten taking stimulant medication for my Adult ADD.

I began on Concerta once daily. Then was switched to Adderal XR, and have faithfully taken them daily for the past 4 years.

The nightmare came about 3 days ago, when it came time to get a new presctiption refill on the Adderal XR. I knew that in my state, (I do not know about elsewhere) this being a Scheduled drug in the Schedule II drug class the pdoc can not call in the refill and it must be a new prescription each month.

The proble I have ran into is the fact that in my state I am on what they call 'Restricted Card Program' where my Primary Care Povider ( this being my Family Doctor or GP) must authorize all my doctors through 'written referrals.

This restricts me to one pharmacy for all of my prescriptions. She was on vavcation last week, for the past 3 months I have a valid referal to the Psychiatrist who is no longer with the Community Mental Health Program. This gave me the ability to continue getting my medications filled that I had 5 refills.

The problem now is that I ran out of Adderal anout 3 days ago. My Casworker was working on getting me samples, though found out they do not have samples of this mediscaton as it is a Controlled Substance.

So my PCP/GP has had to counter sign the Adderal scripts from the 'Rental Pdocs' Now until tomorrow when I get the counter signature if my case worker can get a written script from the FNP for the Mecication I have beeb without.

I feel myself going through withdrawls from the medication as I feel that I am after 4 years dependant on this medication.

Tomorrow she is going to address this with my PCP/GP doc to have my referral from the non esistant Dr my refills are listed under in order to cancel out the out the precriptions from him and have me refered to the Meical Director. So I have been with out.

I didn't notice much withdrawl until today and this 3rd day. Does anyone know the effects of sudden stopping of this type of medicaion. Since I am going to the PCP for other physical disorders tomorrow the Mental Health worker is going to speak with her anout the new Pdoc who's name I will need to fill my script when I get it.

So as far as withdrawls go as they were so bad I have 'doubled up' on my Valium to try to stop the withdrawls from the adderal.

So when the Pdoc is canged my one refill on everything I take from the old Pdoc will become void through the Medicaid program. So just wondered what to expect from stopping the Adderal Suddenly.

I did my best in this post as it is dificult for me to concentrate and stay on one thing at a time. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I thank you for reading this and am hoping to be back on the medication tomorrow and feel back to myself.--Chris
