I've not been a "spiritual" person until the last year or two. About 10 years ago I had a very vivid OBE, but only recently became aware of what it was. At the time, I just thoroughly enjoyed it...cruising around looking at "stuff" and feeling 100% connected to it all. In the past, I also have had several very powerful prophetic dreams, which ultimately proved to be accurate. These dreams are presented in a somewhat symbolic style, and a voice spoke into my ear, explaining the meaning in detail. I now assume this was my spirit guide.

About a year ago I came across a book by Dr Michael Newton, "Journey of Souls", which is based upon several thousand past life regression sessions conducted with his patients. The book explores our existence BETWEEN lives, from death until rebirth, and is fascinating. It discusses soul mates, soul groups, Council of Elders, soul colors ( which denote maturity ) and of course, our guides. I was instantly hooked, and also read the follow up book, "Destiny of Souls".

I've been trying to contact my spirit guide with only limited success. What method works for you?
I know what you mean by elusive. My main guide Eirin is the same way. The only reason I even know his name is because my older sister is good at channeling and he talked to me through her the other day. He then gave her a dream that night telling her to let me know that I need to trust myself more. I asked him to visit me in a dream last night, and I got nothing. I don't mean to sound resentful or bitter, but it seems like Eirin talks to my sister more than he does to me. I'm starting to think maybe he's her guide, not mine, and that I don't even have a guide. I know they say that everyone has at least one guide, but now I'm starting to wonder.

Anyway, I didn't really get into spiritual stuff until about three years ago myself...I've only just recently grown super interested in spirit guides and how to communicate with them. I've never had an OBE or prophetic dreams, I haven't really had much spiritual experiences at all because I seem to have the worst luck with these kind of things. Like you, I did the You Tube videos for a while. I managed not to fall asleep, but still got nothing. So eventually I quit trying that out of discouragement. Like you, I've been trying to contact my guide for months now but with very little success. I wish I could offer you some advice, but I've been experimenting myself with different ways to try to contact my guide, none of them have been successful so far.

Anyway, the books you mention sound pretty interesting.
I might have to go hunting for them at my library.
