Provigil is approved for narcoplepsy, sleep apnea, and night shift workers so it is about sleep and providing alertness. I am using for daytime fatigue and sleepiness associated with depression and had to get special approval. I have anxiety so an amphetamine stimulant would really be bad for me. This is different. It makes me feel calm and focussed, gives me a sense that I am capable of having the energy and concentration to get through longer tasks and last longer during the day. And it works almost immediately at a relatively low dose.

I was on Provigil before, for 6 years, using it for the same reasons. I had the same response back then too. And in the 6 years, I only had to increase the dose a little bit so there is tolerance after a while, but it isn't such a big deal.

I was told that Provigil was used by military pilots who were did not have enough sleep to help them be able to pilot plans under those conditions.
