I've actually never had bad reactions to alcohol on any other med than TCA. That doesn't mean it can't happen. I would just draw the conclusion you did, that the med somehow affected your response to alcohol. I think it would be almost impossible to explain this since everyone has different reactions to meds, and also different reactions to alcohol. The effect you had was your own reaction, and it does sound quite unusual if I might say so.

Myself I never had sedation from SSRIs. For me they are activating. My alcohol tolerance has always been about the same.
