General degrees can be very good. I have relatives who got general business or liberal arts degrees and they've become very successful. My sister-in-law got a Sociology degree and worked her way up the ladder at MBNA to VP and now a VP at Bank of America. She has to make over $100K/yr. easy. Her sister did the same thing and is a VP there and makes $250K/yr. I got an engineering degree and racked my brain for only $45K/yr in the 90's and now on SSDI. You can get a general degree and when you start working you might have the option of getting a Master's Degree thru your employer.
