Hey all, so if you've been here that long you noticed I am new and this is my first post. I rarely post on message boards, but with the wealth of information and experiences you all have I hope to get some valuable insight. This might be long, so please stay with me, I am trying to figure out the best option for someone who I believe may have some level of Schizophrenia.

I am a second year medical student (interesting I'm just starting neuro now) and because of my background I have been able to instruct classes for people looking to get into medical school. I met the person I am asking about because they were a student in one of the classes I taught. I have and had nothing but a professional level relationship with them.

About 6 months after the end of the class I received a threatening letter from a lawyer and have continued to be sent accusations from the person via Facebook (we aren't friends on the site). The messages claimed I had hacked into their email and had stolen contact lists, phone numbers etc. The allegations continued to say that I was conspiring with people around them to find out information about them and tear down their life and reputation. They believe I've been following them around and that other people are spying on them on my behalf.

They have filed 6 police reports all with the same outlandish allegations, the police refuse to investigate further (they have spoken with me in the past) and this person has followed their only remaining course of action which was to civilly bring the case before a judge, which requires my appearance in court.

I was not aware of the extent of this until today when I went to the court to file a harassment complaint against them. In the process I was given previous police reports they filed for other situations. They all have the same theme. They are not safe, people are conspiring and they are in danger. In one report the officer wrote that this person was visibly emotional while giving the story, despite the fact the police refuse to investigate me, since they know the allegations are without merit.

I'm in an odd position, on one hand I'm afraid of what in the future can be made up about me, but I am also convinced that she is suffering from some sort of delusions or psychosis (sorry if I misuse those words). We will eventually settle this through the court system, but the medical student in me is screaming to see how I can make the best of this, instead of just "ridding myself" of a problem.

I don't know what to do, can I ask the court to get her a psych eval? Is that an overstep of her rights? Has anyone ever been in this situation or heard of something like it before?
