I get them at least a couple of times a month. I'm on verapamil to try to prevent them and Migranal nasal spray (amazingly awesome med) for when I get them.
I get the aura first, then when that goes away and I can see again I get the intense pain.
Little known fact about those of us who get migraine with aura: birth control pills are not recommended because they increase the risk of stroke which is also increased if you get the auras.
