I am so happy for you that you got a job you like. that is awesome! As for your mom, maybe she is afraid of losing you. I mean, now you have a job which may lead to you supporting yourself and not needing her anymore. Where does that leave her emotionally? Lost and bewildered and of no value anymore. Of course we all know that mothers don't lose their value when their children move on but sometimes moms don't think to clearly. This is by no way clearing her of the horrible way she is treating you but may give some insight to make it easier to deal with her. I wonder if some therapy would be in order so she wouldn't need to sabotage you to make herself feel safe in her role.

Also, you are not a failure because you had a slip up. Just make sure you have properly cared for the injury and try to learn from the mistake. Go buy yourself that good food you were thinking of getting and take the best care of yourself that you can. We are rooting for you!
