DD1 had a T appointment at 9:00 this morning. Her last session was August 7, then T was going on vacation, then school was starting back, so this was scheduled loosely back then.

DD1 is 17, in counseling one or sometimes two visits a week since January. She was SI and threatened SUI and I didn't know what to do for her. She had another T last year, but she was horribly expensive and impossibly far away, she was perfectly nice but they just could not click. DD never spoke one word so after 12 sessions she convinced me to let her switch.

She and this T hit it off immediately, the bond formed quickly, they began to dig into DD's issues and within 4 months she finally told of her history of SA. Immediately T began Trauma Focused CBT, she taught tricks to handle panic attacks, helped the catastrophizing anxiety, and had a very strong safety plan in place. She predicted one year of weekly sessions would make a huge difference for DD.

Back to today, she was so glad to see T again, has been journaling things as they happen so she wouldn't forget to mention something, and has a ton of new things to talk about.

15 minutes past her appointment time the receptionist called me aside, confused why we were there today. T no longer works here. DD's case is being switched to another T but she doesn't have 5 minutes to meet you today, she will be in touch to schedule.

Whoa.

DD cried hysterically, really liked and trusted T, and can't see how she can continue TFCBT because it will take months to build up the comfort if they even click with each other.

I am beyond pissed off, but on second thought, I'm seeing my 3rd T and I just started in April. I guess they don't believe in advance warnings at our county MHC. This makes me question the circumstances of her leaving, although I would never doubt her integrity, she made DD's experience wonderful. So now what?
