That's highly unlikely that a psychiatrist would think your GP is giving you too many medications - most often it's the other way around.

A psychiatrist will want to assess your condition so you are diagnosed accurately and be sure that you are taking the proper medications. They'll want to discuss your mood and other symptoms, any side effects, how you sleep, energy level, functioning, etc. It is wise to see a psychiatrist for psych medications, they are really the only doctors who can accurately monitor their effectiveness or ineffectiveness and make proper changes if needed.
